Dorothy Brophy

Dorothy combines a passion for the law with a delight in getting things done. Clients appreciate her ability to provide goal focused counsel that overcomes obstacles.

Dorothy Brophy has had her own practice for the past 25 years after a number of years with the firm Blaney McMurtry and then Aylsworth Thompson. Dorothy has focussed on corporate and commercial law and most recently increased her interest in wills and estates. More than processing estates Dorothy enjoys assisting families by being proactive in estate planning to avoid taxes and to leave the executors well informed with a tidy estate.

While serving her clients, Dorothy fed her love of critical thinking by acquiring an MA in philosophy and world religions at the University of Toronto. To Dorothy, the law provides a rational framework for a functioning society and is not a set of arbitrary rules. This approach helps her provide counsel that is knowledgeable and forward looking.

Dorothy’s client base stretches back 25+ years. The more recent focus on Wills and Estate Planning is partly in response to an established clientele needing succession planning and distribution of assets, both personal and corporate.
